Transfer of Bristol Water

On 1st February 2023, the Bristol Water business transferred to South West Water ("SWW") by way of an approved transfer scheme under Schedule 2 of the Water Industry Act 1991 (the “Scheme”). Under the Scheme, the property, rights and liabilities of Bristol Water Plc transfer to SWW as if SWW had always been the owner.

Effective at the same time, SWW became the provider of drinking water services to the area previously served by Bristol Water Plc following a variation to SWW’s licence and termination of Bristol Water Plc’s licence by industry regulator Ofwat.

Bristol Water will continue to deliver for the 1.2 million customers in the area as a brand of SWW - retaining a local identity and presence for customers and communities. SWW is committed to delivering Bristol Water’s agreed 2020-2025 regulatory business plan and commitments.
