Football’s future stars are dressed for success thanks to South West Water funding

17th November 2021

A local under 6’s football team is dressed for success with a brand-new training kit from funding awarded by South West Water.

Broadclyst FC, established in 1992, is based in the village of Broadclyst, just outside Exeter and has youth teams ranging from under6's through to under13's.

The funding comes as part of South West Water’s Neighbourhood Fund to support community groups and initiatives which will improve the lives of residents in Devon, Cornwall and Dorset by inspiring physical activities, enhancing education, health and wellbeing and delivering positive environmental outcomes.

The local community groups which are benefitting from the Neighbourhood Fund have been struck by the effects of the pandemic due to a limited supply of cash and the inability to receive funds through typical methods of fundraising.

Team Coach, Paul Ruggles, said: “Broadclyst FC is one of a few clubs in the area to run an under 6’s team and we believe it’s extremely beneficial to their development both on and off the pitch.

“We’re very pleased that South West Water has chosen to support us so that we can kit the kids out and provide a high level of facilities and equipment.”

Jo Ecroyd, Customer Service Director at South West Water, said: “We’re thrilled to be supporting Broadclyst FC under 6’s. Local sports clubs are a fantastic outlet for children of all ages, encouraging fun physical activity. Many clubs were forced to close their doors during the pandemic so it’s great to see training and matches taking place once again.”
