Outland Road, Plymouth, closed for emergency sewer repairs

23rd September 2015

Outland Road, Plymouth, is closed to traffic in both directions from 9.30am on Wednesday 23 September while South West Water carries out emergency repairs.

The road will be closed, 24 hours a day, between the junction of Segrave Road and Peverell Park Road for approximately seven days. Diversion routes are in place (see PDF, right).

One lane is being kept open for buses and emergency vehicles.

During planned routine maintenance on the sewerage network last week, South West Water's contractors discovered the pipe has collapsed in three places. There is also a large void above one of the collapses, which could affect the road surface.

Amey reviewed the video footage and agreed that emergency repairs needed to be carried out as soon as possible.

Our contractors will be working from 7am to 10pm, seven days a week, to replace the damaged sections of pipe, fill the void and line the 45-metre sewer.

We apologise for the disruption this emergency work will cause.
