Return to normal water service in Tiverton area

20th March 2018

Water supplies have returned to normal in the Tiverton area today.

A flood at Allers Water Treatment Works overnight on Sunday (18 March) caused four pumps to fail and yesterday South West Water advised customers in the Tiverton area that they could experience low pressure or loss of water as a result.

However, disruption was minimised with fewer than 60 reports of no water received from the Tiverton area after engineers from South West Water worked around the clock to divert water to the area from other treatment works and keep the network topped up using tankers while the damaged pumps were repaired.

As a precautionary measure, bowsers and bottled water were deployed but not needed. These will be collected today.
