Your Water Warrior Beach Essentials Kit

07th September 2022

Whatever the season, nothing beats a relaxing day at one of our beautiful beaches…

Whether you want to spend the day swimming in the sea, strolling on the shore or making sandcastles, you should make sure you’ve prepped everything you need for an enjoyable day. But what exactly should you take with you to the beach? Here are five pieces of essential kit which can benefit both you and the environment.

Reusable water bottles

We all know how important it is to stay hydrated, so make sure you take a reusable water bottle with you to the beach.

Stainless steel bottles – which you can buy from Chilly’s, for example – are best at keeping your water cool for the entire day. Taking reusable bottles means you don’t need to spend money on single-use plastic water bottles which could get left behind.

If you need to top up your bottle throughout the day, you can download the Refillable app, which connects you with locations where you can fill up with water.

Reusable cooler bag

It’s not a beach day unless you’ve got plenty of snacks to sustain your fun.

Investing in a reusable cooler bag means you can pack a tasty homemade picnic to feast on, rather than dashing to the shop for ready-made treats which often involve a lot of packaging. Good for your wallet and the environment!

Litter picker

You don’t need to wait until the Great British Beach Clean Up day to do a spot of litter-picking on the beach.

With your own litter-picker, you can pick up any rubbish you come across. Why not turn it into a fun activity for the kids – who can pick up the most litter in 10 minutes? Don’t forget to pack a bag too, so you can take any litter home and dispose of it.

Eco-friendly beach toys

With eco-friendly beach toys, you can prevent any plastic from reaching the ocean or harming animals on the beach.

Not sure where to look? Browse the Envirotoy website, where you can find plastic free toys. Their buckets and spades are made from a special type of re-constituted wood and are free from toxins and other nasties.

Beach towel

Whether you’re swimming in the waters or lying down to catch a tan, a beach towel is a crucial part of your essentials kit.

You can find many eco-friendly, sustainable beach towels, made from natural fabrics. These towels aren’t just better for the environment (because they don’t release harmful chemicals or dyes), they’re also gentle on your skin. Win, win.
